Living With a Positive Mindset

Does God Want Me to Have Everything Together?

July 5, 2017

Our  society  nowadays  discourages  fear,  hurt,  and  anger.  The  ideal  person  in  this  world  “has  everything  together.”  We  look  up  to  that  expectation  and  make it  our  goal.  But  what  we’re  really  trying  to  be  is  not  human.

Maybe  we  aspire  to  this  because  we  want  approval  of  others.  Maybe  we’re  trying  to  gain  recognition  in  this  world,  or  maybe  we’re  trying  to  gain  God’s  approval.

I’m  not  going  to  write  about  the  two  former  today.  As  problematic  as  they  are, sadly, a  lot  of  people  out  there  will  look  up  to  you  if  you  have  “everything  together”.  Whilst  there  is  much  to  be  said  about  the  former,  the  latter  is  a  lie.

Satan  is  the  master  of  planting  lies  in  our  heads.  What  better  place  to  plant  lies against God than  in  the  minds  of  people  who  are  trying  to  follow  God?  Lies  have  also  been  placed  in  the  minds  of  people  who  don’t  know  God,  so  that  their  view  of  Him  is  skewed.

If  everyone  in  existence  knew  right  now  the  truth  about  God,  and  could  see  through  all  of  Satan’s  lies  about  Him,  it  would  revolutionize  the  planet!  There  would  be  tears  of  joy  at  discovering  who  their  souls  have  inwardly  yearned  for  all  these  years.  Just  imagine  what  good  it  would  do  if  God  was  not  misunderstood!

Well,  for  those  who  are  trying  to  gain  God’s  approval,  get  ready  for  a  lie  to  be  revealed.

God  wants  us  to  show  our  emotions  of  fear,  hurt,  and  anger.  Let  that  sink  in  a  moment.  God  created  us;  therefore,  all  these  emotions  have  been  created  in  us  for  a  purpose.  Whilst  concealing  these  emotions,  which  we  might  see  as  “faults”,  we  are  really  just  trying  to  hide  who  we  really  are  and  are  created  to  be.

If  we’ve  read  any  of  the  Psalms,  we  know  that  there  is  a  whole  lot  of  emotion  in that.  How  did  David  handle  the  human  emotions  of  anger,  fear,  sadness,  betrayal,  hurt?  He  poured  out  his  heart  to  God.  This  is  key!  We  need  to  know  that  God  does  not  want  us  to  “perfect”  ourselves  in  front  of  His  eyes  by  shutting  out  our  God-given  emotions.  In  fact,  God  loves  to  hear  us  cry  to  Him,  vent  our  anger  to  Him,  or  express  our  fears  to  Him;  not  because  He enjoys  watching  pain,  but  because  He  cries  with  us,  He  is  angry  at  injustice  with  us,  and  He  knows  how  we  are  frightened.  He  yearns  to  help  us.  He  loves  us  so  much  and  doesn’t  want  us  to  carry  our  burdens  alone.  And  we  won’t  have  to  carry  them  alone  if  we  bring  them  to  Him.

We  may  think  that,  by  hiding  our  emotions,  we have  improved  ourselves.  In  reality,  it’s  simply  being  unrealistic  with  ourselves.  When  we  contain  our  emotions,  God  still  sees  them  inside  us!  The  only  difference  is,  He’s  crying  out  for  us  to  take  the  burden  to  Him.  He  wants  to  help,  and  He  won’t  force  Himself  upon  us  because  He  is  a  gentle  God.

Remember,  if  anything,  God  longs  for  us  to  bring  our  troubles  and  feelings  to  Him;  not  to  hide  them.

“In fact, God loves to hear us cry to Him, vent our anger to Him, or express our fears to Him; not because He enjoys watching pain, but because He cries with us, He is angry at injustice with us, and He knows how we are frightened.” Loved it!
